ADMISSION EXERCISE FOR 2018/2019 ACADEMIC SESSION

Hereby invites applications for admission into the following programmes commencing form Monday, August 6, 2018 in the under listed programmes.

 

FACULTY OF ARTS

  • Creative Arts (Threatre Arts, Music and Visual Arts)
  • English
  • European Languages & Integration Studies (French and Russian)
  • History and Strategic Studies
  • Linguistic, African and Asian Studies (Igbo and Yoruba)
  • Philosophy

 

FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

  • Mass Communication
  • Sociology
  • Social Work

 

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES

  • All candidates who possess five credit (5) passes in relevant O’ level subjects including English and Mathematics at not more than TWO sittings are eligible to apply.

 

DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

  • The duration of the courses are five (5), four (4) and three (3) years depending on entry qualifications.

 

DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENT FOR THE FACULTY OF ARTS

  1. CREATIVE ARTS

5 credits to include English, Mathematics, Literature and any two other subjects.

 

  1. EUROPEAN LANGUAGES & INTEGRATION STUDIES

5 credits to include English, Mathematics and any three Arts subjects

 

  1. ENGLISH

5 credits to include English, Mathematics, Literature, another Arts subject and any other Arts or Social Science subject

 

  1. HISTORY & STRATEGIC STUDIES

5 credits to include English, Mathematics, History or Government, one other Arts subject and any other subject

 

  1. LINGUISTICS, AFRICAN & ASIAN STUDIES

5 credits to include English, Mathematics, Yoruba/Igbo and any other two subjects

 

  1. PHILOSOPHY

5 credits to include English, Mathematics, Yoruba/Igbo and any other two subjects

…The following Arts Subjects are acceptable: History, Literature, French, CRS/IRS, Civic Education and any Nigerian Languages

DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES 

  1. Mass communication

5 Year Programme

Five (5) credits passes in O’Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English and any other two (2) credit passes from any other discipline at not more than Two Sittings

 

4 Years Programme

Diploma Certificate in Mass Communication from University of Lagos or from other accredited Universities recognized by the Senate of the University of Lagos with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 and above on a 5 point scale; and also fulfilled the requirements in (1) above.

3 Year Programme

HND in Mass Communication from accredited Polytechnics and Monotechnics at credit pass with 2 – years post HND professional experience. The candidate must be registered member of relevant Regulatory Agencies and or Professional Bodies such as APCON, NIPR, NUJ, etc.

The candidate must similarly satisfy the requirements in (1) above.

 

  1. SOCIOLOGY

5 Year Programme

Five ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any two of Economics, Government, Civic Education/Social Studies and Geography and any one Arts subjects from Literature-in-English, CRS/IRK Yoruba/Igbo/Hausa and History at not more than Two sittings

 

4 Year Programme

Diploma Certificate in Social Development and Administration from University of Lagos, Foundation Course Programme from the Universities Lagos, or any other Diploma from other accredited Universities recognized by the Senate of the University of Lagos with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 1.5 and above, and also fulfilled the requirements in (1) above.

 

  1. Social work

As in Sociology

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS AND ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS

Completed application form should be submitted online and a hard copy with colour print should be submitted to the Faculty of Arts Programme Office Room 634, the

Department of Mass Communication, Department of Sociology and the Department of Social Work Programme office respectively.

Examinations for these programmes which will be in English Language and General Knowledge are as scheduled below:

 

NB: (1)     Candidates are expected to come to the examination hall by 9:00am with the colour print of their Application Form.

(2)    Provisional Admission Letters would be ready for collection two weeks after entrance examination.

(3)    The Programmes run in the evening
